Horoscope June 2023: The Best Days to Travel, and Who to Travel With This Month

Professional astrologer Kirah Tabourn reads your monthly horoscope—and spells out how it may shape your travels.

Your horoscope for June 2023 promises a few weeks to rest and digest after a spring marked by change. We're also in the midst of Gemini season, a time when we’re more drawn to indulge our curiosities, and explore new connections. All to say, there's the rumblings of more evolution on the horizon—but self-care, and patience, will tide travelers over during the uncertainty. And hey, we all know that a dose of the unexpected is why we hit the road in the first place, right?

As you look at your travel calendar for the month, there are a few key moments to watch out for. A full moon in Sagittarius lights up the sky on Saturday, June 3, which will be energizing—and potentially exhausting. Though Sagittarius is a sign related to international travel, journeys, meeting and connecting with that which is foreign, it’s not the best day for being in transit. If you are traveling, though, be open to experiences that offer shifts in your perspective that first week of June.

The movement only continues when Venus enters Leo on Monday, June 5, kicking off an unusually long four-month transit of Venus through the sign. Venus's entry here begins to paint a picture of the things we’ll be working through in the months ahead. In terms of travel, you might find yourself taking a pause or planting yourself somewhere for an extended period of time, as the start of retrograde can bring confusion—but trust that it all works itself out sooner or later.

Lastly, Cancer season and the summer solstice kick off on Wednesday, June 21, making way for a softer period of the year where our focus shifts to what’s familiar and comfortable to us; our friends, family, and loved ones. It’s the season for family reunions, visits to ancestral lands, and gatherings of all kinds. What do you have planned?

Aries Rising

June starts off with your chart ruler, Mars, moving through Leo, giving you more energy and direction than you’ve had all year. Creatively you’re on fire this month, so let yourself become inspired by your surroundings. The urge to spend money on travel is loud in early June—go for it if you can! Maybe you want to plan some solo travel, like a big end-of-the-year trip.

A few dates to keep in mind: A Sagittarius full moon lights up your ninth house of international journeys on Saturday, June 3, making the first weekend of the month an exciting one. If you find yourself in a new place, take in the culture of where you are. Physical activities are favored this weekend, such as a hike, swim, walking tour, or even a horseback ride (Sagittarius is related to the centaur, after all). If this is a travel day, it may be hectic, but remember that there’s something cool about being in between worlds—try to appreciate and explore that liminal space.

Mercury enters Gemini on Sunday, June 11, which marks the beginning of a busy period. Expect to be out and about, making short trips, organizing travel, or exploring with loved ones. It’s a great time for a road trip. A Gemini new moon takes place on Saturday, June 17 marking a moment of rebirth and renewal related to your neighborhood and local travel. You could be moving to a new area or making commitments to explore more. Again, this is a great time to book for the future, or even take the plunge on a big travel-related investment like a car, bike, or other equipment.

Cancer season begins on Wednesday, June 21, when the sun enters your fourth house of home, family, and ancestry for the next 30 days. Visit family and attend reunions if you have the chance. If you’re looking to move, it’s a great season for home shopping and buying, as well as decorating. Expect increased pleasure in your home, especially if you find yourself hosting extended family and friends.

Taurus Rising

June brings an increased focus on your income and spending as planets move through Gemini, your second house of money and finances. Maybe you’re concerned about saving up for future plans or just feeling the desire to be more organized. It’s a great time to set new financial goals as Mercury, the planet that is responsible for your income, won’t be retrograde again until late August. This is all amplified by a full moon in Sagittarius on Saturday, June 3, which could mark a moment of completion for a big trip you’ve been saving up for. Then, Mercury enters Gemini on Sunday, June 11, and a Gemini new moon takes place on Saturday, June 17, both adding to the finance focus. The new moon in particular is a great time to make fun purchases.

On Monday, June 5, your ruling planet Venus enters Leo where it will stay for an unusual four-month journey, as Venus will go retrograde in late July. This is an important transit for you that will take you throughout the summertime and with a newfound focus on the home, family, and ancestry. Perhaps you’re getting ready to plant roots in a new space; maybe it’s time to make renovations on your home. The focus is making your living space better match your lifestyle, but it will take some time to figure out. Expect to feel confused at first, and try not to rush into major changes.

Cancer season begins on Wednesday, June 21, which also marks the summer solstice. The sun entering Cancer, soon followed by Mercury on Monday, June 26, lights up your third house of transportation, short trips, neighborhood, and local areas. Spend more time in familiar spaces as well as identifying new potential ones. Take a day trip into a nearby city and let yourself get lost for a bit—you never know what type of inspiration awaits.

Gemini Rising

June kicks off steeped in Gemini season, an exciting time in the year when you have more energy and spirit than usual. Plus, a full moon in Sagittarius on Saturday, June 3, marks a highpoint of social activity. Sagittarius is your seventh house of relationships, partnerships, and clients, and full moons lead to revelations—be open to learning something new about yourself and those you’re in partnership with. This full moon paired with an electric alignment of Mercury and Uranus on Sunday, June 4, is guaranteed to make the first weekend of the month a high-energy one. Don’t be surprised if you’re pulled between needing to socialize and wanting to be far away from people, alone, and in nature. Do your best to stay centered. Next, Venus enters Leo on Monday, June 5, for an unusually long four-month stay, lighting up your third house of neighborhood and transportation. You may find yourself exploring your local spaces more this summer, and finding inspiration while doing so. Make a list of nearby cities and towns you’d like to visit this summer.

On Sunday, June 11, your ruling planet, Mercury, enters Gemini, your first house of self, identity, body, and appearance—this is a special period that comes annually. This could look like a literal return to home for you, whether you’re visiting family, your hometown, or just ending a trip. Overall, from June 11 to 26, you’ll have the pleasure of feeling more like yourself. You’ll also have more energy: expect to be buzzing around like the winged-feet messenger god, Hermes, that Mercury is associated with. You’ll get a lot done, and feel inspired. A Gemini new moon on Saturday, June 17 underscores this notion and offers a sense of rebirth regarding your identity and appearance. It’s a great time to set intentions for the next 12 months. This same day, Saturn stations retrograde until early November, marking a potential pause on international travel for a bit.

On Wednesday, June 21, the summer solstice takes place and the sun enters Cancer, your second house of finances and income. The first three weeks of the month were about restoring your confidence and sense of self, but now it’s time to focus your attention on how to invest in your future. Your ruling planet, Mercury, joins the sun in Cancer on Monday, June 26, and they form an exact alignment, called a cazimi, on Friday, June 30, to close out the month with an important moment of insight around the self and where you’re best rooted.

Cancer Rising

June starts off in the middle of Gemini season, a time where you may feel steeped in contemplation as the sun lights up your twelfth house of solitude and mental health. If you’re not up to social commitments at this time, don’t sweat it. You need to recharge and process everything that’s going on in your life. If you’re able to book some solo time for yourself in the first three weeks of the month, whether it's an extended trip, a week, or a weekend for yourself, do so. Sunday, June 11, through Tuesday, June 20, is an excellent time to get away, especially for a writing retreat, or mini sabbatical. Remember that the freedom of movement allows for freedom of thought. But heads up that Thursday, June 15, isn’t the best day to be in transit—you may run into delays. The Gemini new moon on Saturday, June 17, marks the beginning of a new cycle related to your mental health. It’s a great time to set intentions to build better practices and make commitments to yourself about creating space for meditation, therapy, or whatever support you may be craving.

Then, on Wednesday, June 21, the summer solstice takes place and Cancer season begins, This is your time to come out and shine bright. You’ll likely be finished with your behind-the-scenes solo journey by this time and will be ready to be seen. The sun illuminates your first house of self, body, identity, and appearance when it’s in Cancer, so it’s a wonderful time to spend money on yourself—facials, haircuts, whatever. If you haven’t been able to travel in a while, this could be a time to splurge on a future trip for yourself. Mercury joins the sun in Cancer on Monday, June 26, setting the stage for more ease in communication. You’ll be better able to translate your thoughts and ideas, and you may be spending more time with familiar faces. Is it time for a road trip to see some loved ones?

Leo Rising

June kicks off an especially creative summer for you, starting with a Sagittarius full moon in your fifth house of art, fun, and entertainment. The full moon spotlighting this part of your life could bring revelations around a creative project you’re working on, aspects of your self expression and sexuality, or maybe even news about a pregnancy around you (the fifth house rules fertility and children). Be open to inspiration in all forms during the first week of the month.

Mars, the planet that governs your travel and journeys, continues to move through Leo giving you a major travel bug. If you don't have pending travel plans, this is a great time to start booking future trips. What destinations have been on your mind? Sagittarius season (November 23 to December 20) is a wonderful time for you to go abroad. There are so many opportunities to socialize this month with the Sun and Mercury gracing Gemini, your eleventh house of friends, community, and networks. This is the time to travel with friends or make new friends while traveling. Say yes to those event and trip invites!

On Monday, June 5, Venus will enter Leo to stay for an unusually long stay—over four months. For you, Venus’ transit and retrograde through Leo will have a lot to do with your personal and public image, as well as the communities you’d like to represent. Venus also has to do with aesthetics and beauty, so the fact that it’s spending such a long time in your first house of self and appearance is meaningful. There will be confusion around what this means and the choices in this part of your life that you need to make, but give yourself the summer to figure it out before making big decisions. June wraps up with the summer solstice starting on Wednesday, June 21, when the sun enters Cancer, your twelfth house of solitude and contemplation. Spend time over the next few weeks connecting to nature, especially water—it's a great way for you to decompress.

Virgo Rising

June kicks off in the midst of Gemini season, a special time for your career and reputation. You tend to be recognized more when the Sun and other planets like Mercury move through Gemini, your tenth house of career and vocation—and there are plenty of opportunities for growth in this part of your life June. However, we kick the month off with a full moon in Sagittarius that spotlights your fourth house of home, family, and grounding. Perhaps you’re traveling home, whether it’s to your family home, ancestral lands, or simply returning after some time away. You could also be looking for a new place to call home—maybe even move abroad. This full moon will provide some clarity in direction. If you are traveling this weekend, prepare for twists and turns that may shift your perspective on something major in life. It’s a biggie! Regardless of your plans for this first weekend, know that you’ll feel supercharged with energy—you might not need those afternoon coffees.

On Monday, June 5, Venus enters Leo where it will stay for an unusually long transit of four months because it will retrograde here starting in late July. Leo is your twelfth house of solitude, contemplation, and mental health, so this transit may have you feeling ready for some extended R&R. Consider an extended, long-term stay somewhere, especially in June and early July before the retrograde between July 22 to September 4.

Mercury’s entry into Gemini on Sunday, June 11, is an exciting time for work and career as you’ll find you’re able to get a lot done, fast, during this period (until June 26). Put yourself out there and allow yourself to be seen. It goes by quickly so soak it up. A Gemini new moon on Saturday, June 17, further underscores this. You’ll be blown away by where you are at this time next year, when Jupiter enters Gemini to expand your career even more than you can imagine.

Libra Rising

It’s Gemini season, one of your best travel periods of the year. If you have a trip planned this month, get ready for an exciting time; if not, it's a great time to look ahead. A full moon on June 3 in Sagittarius, your third house of local space and transportation, may make for a hectic travel day—but if you find yourself in transit, do your best to stay centered and go with the flow. On Monday, June 5, Venus enters Leo, your eleventh house of friends, community, and networks. This is significant because Venus, your ruling planet, will be in Leo for an unusually long stay of four months. Your energy will be focused on friends, community, and network for the foreseeable future as a result.

Mercury enters Gemini on Sunday, June 11 marking a two-week period that is excellent for travel, especially international or long-distance journeys. If you're on the go during this time (June 11 to 26), you’ll find more ease of movement and opportunities to learn. If you aren’t traveling, you’ll feel inclined to start booking and planning future travel: Gemini season is your time for journey and exploration regardless. A Gemini new moon on Saturday, June 17, further highlights your ninth house of travel, journeys, and international people and places. The new moon offers a fresh start in this area of life, opening you up to a refreshed mentality and perspective on life. Consider getting the opinions of those you meet on your travels—maybe even an astrologer or tarot card reader? You'll be more open to their form of wisdom during this time.

Scorpio Rising

June kicks off in Gemini season, which may not be your favorite time of the year but is an excellent time for receiving counseling of therapy. Gemini is, after all, your eighth house of mutual reciprocity, emotional processing, therapy, and support. But before that: We start the month in a peak of energy with a full moon in Sagittarius on Saturday, June 3, lighting up your second house of finances, income, and spending. Have you been waiting for the “right time” to make a big purchase, especially related to travel? This is the time to do it.

On Monday, June 5, Venus will enter Leo, marking the beginning of an unusually long four-month period of Venus in the sign, as it will retrograde here from July 22 to September 4. Leo is your tenth house of career and vocation, and Venus governs your relationships, and partnerships—it’s entry into Leo and subsequent long stay will turn your focus toward how you are tied to others, and even self-sabotaging patterning with partners. Don’t expect to know what direction to head in right away, just do your best to understand the why behind challenges you face over the next two months. It’s an important time to face any issues head on. Mercury’s entry into Gemini on June 11, and the subsequent Gemini new moon on Saturday, June 17, are important moments for setting intentions and enacting new practices.

Cancer season begins with the summer solstice on Wednesday, June 21, marking the best season for travel for you this year. Sagittarius Rising

June starts in the midst of Gemini season, a time of year that highlights and activates your seventh house of partnerships and relationships. It’s an awesome time for travel to see friends, loved ones, and even clients. We kick off the month with a full moon in Sagittarius, your first house of self, identity, and appearance. When full moons happen in your rising sign, sometimes the spotlight shifts to you, so you may feel more recognized and noticed during this first weekend of the month, especially abroad. There may be some confusion at the start of the retrograde, but you can count on meeting and interacting with new people, connecting with old friends, and expanding your network in ways that you can’t even imagine right now.

When Mercury enters Gemini on June 11, you have a two-week period that is excellent for connecting with loved ones. Keep your calendar open because you’re bound to fill it up with dinners and dates to reconnect. It’s also a great time for acquiring new clients if that’s a part of your work. The first few days of the month are quite frenetic, so prepare for a scattering of creative and physical energy. A full moon in Sagittarius on Saturday, June 3, offers a moment of respite as your twelfth house of solitude, contemplation, and mental health is lit up. Take time during the first weekend of June for rest—there’s plenty of work ahead. If you’re able to get out of town for this, you won’t regret it, as you often require travel or a total removal from your current circumstances in order to properly tend to your mental health.

Venus enters Leo on Monday, June 5, marking the beginning of an extra-long stay of Venus in your eighth house of shared resources, mutual support, and therapy. Venus will retrograde here from July 22 to September 4, making this one of the most important transits of the year. Venus governs your creativity as well as your career and reputation, so its impending retrograde brings those areas of your life up for review and revision. There is bound to be confusion and lack of clarity in the beginning, and that’s a part of the process. This month, spend time noticing the ways in which you support others, and how you need support from them in return.

On June 11, Mercury enters Gemini, your sixth house of work, health, and lifestyle. Work is bound to get busier for the following two weeks, so do your best to pace yourself. Time speeds up when Mercury is in Gemini, and it’s especially great for detail-oriented tasks (maybe you'll find time to really research an upcoming trip you've been putting off?). A Gemini new moon brings a fresh start to this area of life on Saturday, June 17, allowing you to view your work in a new perspective. You’re on a roll, so keep it up until Mercury leaves Gemini for Cancer on June 26, shifting your focus to relationships—and don’t feel guilty for pouring yourself into your work until then, as this is the time to do so.

Aquarius Rising

We enter June in the middle of Gemini season, an especially fun time of year for you as Gemini is your fifth house of pleasure, creativity, and entertainment. June is bound to be a social month for you. A high-energy few days leading up to a Sagittarius full moon on Saturday, June 3, in your eleventh house of friends, groups, and community. A spotlight is on your network and the people you choose to spend time with. This is an excellent weekend to get out of town with friends or colleagues, whether you’re attending a conference or renting out an Airbnb with your favorite people. It’s a great time to connect over shared interests.

On Monday, June 5, Venus enters Leo, your seventh house of relationships and partnerships, for an unusually long four-month stay as it will retrograde here from July 22 to September 4. This will make for an interesting summer. Venus governs your home, family, as well as international people, places, and travel, so expect these things to rise to the surface. You may be looking for a new home with a partner, here or abroad, or you may be open to meeting new people while traveling. Regardless, expect there to be confusion and lack of clarity in the beginning, especially this month. This is a process and you’ll be proud of yourself in the end for taking your time and not rushing into anything.

In addition to Venus highlighting your relationships, there's a lot happening in your fifth house of pleasure and creativity. The sun has been lighting up this area of your life since May 21, but Mercury joins the fun on Sunday, June 11, creating more resources and technical ability. If you’ve been thinking about taking a creative class, this is the time. Overall, you’re encouraged to prioritize your pleasure over these next two weeks, and a Gemini new moon on Saturday, June 17 further underscores these sentiments.

Pisces Rising
